DuBois Company

About

DuBois Company is a strategic intelligence and advisory firm that serves high stakes organizations and principals who cannot afford blind spots. We combine the investigative depth of an intelligence agency with the strategic agility of a trusted advisor, delivering clarity, protection, and competitive advantage where conventional consultancies fall short.

Purpose and Values

Our clients have resources, influence, and access. But in moments of legal exposure, regulatory threat, reputational risk, or competitive uncertainty, what they lack is unfiltered truth delivered by someone who has no agenda other than their protection. That is what DuBois provides. That is why the firm exists beyond revenue.

How We Operate

We work primarily on a retainer basis. This model reflects the nature of the relationship: our clients are not purchasing a deliverable. They are securing ongoing access to a trusted advisor who protects their interests and sharpens their competitive edge.

We are the firm you call when the situation demands more than a report. It demands a solution.

What we believe

Verified First
We believe evidence is older than opinion. We do not recommend until we have done the work to test what we are about to say. Our clients receive judgment grounded in independent evidence, not received wisdom.
Discretion is a Discipline
We believe confidentiality is a system, not a clause. We do not publicize our best work. We do not name clients to win new ones. The discretion we offer is operational, built into how we engage, how we communicate, and what we leave behind.
Useful, Not Loud
We believe visibility is not the same as value. We measure our work by what it allows leaders to do, not by how much it is seen. We are content to be the call that mattered, even when no one ever knows we were on it.
Honest Disagreement
We believe a partner who never disagrees is not a partner. We tell clients what we actually think, even when it complicates the conversation. Especially then.

Why we exist

Why
To put tested judgment beside the people making decisions that cannot be undone, so that those decisions rest on evidence rather than assumption.
Mission
Bring verified intelligence and creative judgment to the leaders who cannot afford to be wrong.
Vision
To be the quiet hand behind the most consequential decisions of our time, so that fewer of them are made on assumption.
Promise
When the stakes are highest and the path is not obvious, we have already done the work.

The people

Our clients are buying judgment, and judgment belongs to somebody. These are the people who do the work.

Brandon DuBois, Founding Partner at DuBois Company

Brandon DuBois

Founding Partner

Brandon DuBois founded DuBois Company in 2017 for a particular kind of moment. Something is wrong. The answer cannot be searched for. The people closest to the problem have been close to it too long to see it clearly, and the decision will not wait for them to.

He is hired to bring the outside read. That means designing what to collect before collecting it, testing the assumption the room has stopped questioning, and returning with a brief short enough to act on that week.

When the work points somewhere a client did not want to go, he says so. Colleagues describe the same trait in different words. He sees the whole board. He comes at a problem from angles most people never think to try.

For nearly a decade Brandon has advised executives and mission driven organizations on strategy, stakeholder management, and risk. The work has included open source intelligence and due diligence ahead of decisions that only get made once, threat and issue analysis, statewide campaigns built with nonprofits and political committees, national issue tracking and decision dashboards for Fortune 200 companies, and project budgets in the tens of millions. He has also held senior operating roles inside two multistate public affairs and management consulting firms, most recently as vice president of operations and development.

He knows what a wrong call costs because he has paid for one himself. Before he founded the firm, he ran a company. Two hundred employees, the payroll, the inventory, and the number at the bottom of the month. He advises like someone who has had to make the decision, not only brief it.

Brandon studied political science at Auburn University and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Auburn University at Montgomery. He is a Certified Nonprofit Professional through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, a member of the Strategic Consortium of Intelligence Professionals and the American Association of Political Consultants, and serves on the junior board of Mitchell’s Place, which works with children affected by autism and other developmental disabilities.

He lives in Birmingham. The curiosity came first. The method came later.

If the decision in front of you cannot afford to be wrong, we should talk.
